Short-term exchange program
March 6th

We’ve arrived! The weather is cool, the girls are excited, the scenery is gorgeous— finally, after a five-year hiatus due to Covid, we are able to resume our short-term exchange program with our sister school in Victoria, Canada. Here are four of the six students out on the deck on the ferry over to Vancouver Island. We’re all very happy to be here and looking forward to new experiences, cultural exchange and personal growth over the next nine days.

Eiwa students have been enjoying a full schedule of different classes and events here at St. Margaret’s School in Victoria!
Highlights have included making new friends in both Japanese and English, taco day for lunch at the cafeteria on Friday (yum!), and learning how to make a Canadian dessert called Nanaimo bars.
We’re very grateful to all the support that St. Margaret’s School and the host families have shown to our students and are looking forward to the final four days of the exchange!

We’re on our way back to Japan now after a great eight days here in Victoria!
Highlights of the past few days included making and serving okonomiyaki to students and host parents in the school cafeteria, taking part in a school cultural fair, a surprise dance event, playing with the elementary school kids, giving a lively quiz show about Japan at a school assembly, and enjoying Afternoon Tea at Victoria’s famous Butchart Gardens. Many thanks to all the parents and teachers both at Eiwa and at Saint Margaret’s School who made this all possible!
